A hypnotic trance is a state of “focused concentration” in which you are neither fully awake nor fully asleep. Hypnotherapy is a state of consciousness in which your logically analytical faculties are reduced sufficiently to allow deeper levels of your subconscious mind to be utilized for the benefit of your health.
Deeply relaxed people are open to suggestion, and can be desensitized to fears, phobias, or pain. Hypnotized subjects can be virtually oblivious of what is going on around them, yet are acutely aware of even slight stimuli called to their attention by the therapist.
